What We Test For
Comprehensive STI & STD Testing Under One Roof
Ridgeline Medical offers testing for a wide range of sexually transmitted infections. Our on-site lab capabilities mean faster results and a more convenient experience — all in one visit.
HIV Testing
Confidential HIV-1 and HIV-2 antibody/antigen testing with fast turnaround. Early detection is key to effective management and preventing transmission.
Chlamydia & Gonorrhea
These are among the most common bacterial STIs. We offer nucleic acid amplification testing (NAAT) — the gold standard for accuracy. Both conditions are treatable with antibiotics.
Syphilis
Syphilis is on the rise nationally. Our blood test screens for all stages of syphilis infection and can be paired with other STI panels for comprehensive coverage.
Herpes (HSV-1 & HSV-2)
Blood tests can detect herpes simplex virus antibodies even when no symptoms are present. Knowing your status helps you protect yourself and your partners.
Hepatitis B & C
Both hepatitis B and C can be sexually transmitted and may cause serious long-term liver damage if undetected. We offer blood-based screening for both viruses.
Trichomoniasis
Trichomoniasis is a highly common but easily treatable parasitic STI. We offer rapid testing and same-visit treatment when indicated.
HPV (Human Papillomavirus)
HPV is the most common sexually transmitted infection. We discuss testing options and vaccination as part of a complete sexual health visit.
Comprehensive STI Panels
Want full-spectrum screening? Ask about our comprehensive STI panels that combine multiple tests into one visit for complete peace of mind.
What to Expect
How STD Testing Works at Ridgeline Medical
We have designed our testing process to be as simple, quick, and discreet as possible. Here is what happens from the moment you walk through our doors.
01
Walk In — No Appointment Needed
Simply walk into our Idaho Falls clinic during business hours. There is no need to call ahead or schedule anything in advance. Check in at the front desk and let us know you are here for STD/STI testing.
02
Private Consultation
A member of our clinical team will speak with you confidentially about your concerns, any symptoms you may be experiencing, and which tests are appropriate for your situation. Everything discussed stays private.
03
Quick, Comfortable Testing
Most STI tests involve a simple blood draw, urine sample, or swab — depending on the infection being tested. The process is fast, minimally invasive, and performed with care and discretion.
04
Receive Your Results
Many results are available the same day or within 24–72 hours. A provider will review your results with you privately and discuss next steps — whether that is treatment, additional testing, or reassurance.
05
Treatment & Follow-Up Care
If a positive result is confirmed, our team will discuss treatment options with you right away. For bacterial infections like chlamydia, gonorrhea, and syphilis, treatment is typically a single office visit away.
Common Questions
Frequently Asked Questions About STD Testing
Have questions before you come in? Here are answers to what patients ask us most often about STD and STI testing at Ridgeline Medical.
Is STD testing at Ridgeline Medical really confidential?
Yes, absolutely. All STD and STI testing at Ridgeline Medical is handled with strict patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations. Your test results are private and will not be shared without your consent. We provide a completely discreet, judgment-free environment for every patient.
Do I need an appointment to get tested?
No appointment is necessary. Ridgeline Medical is a walk-in clinic, which means you can come in any time during our business hours — Monday through Thursday 8 AM – 8 PM, Friday 8 AM – 6 PM, and Saturday 9 AM – 5 PM. We make it easy to get tested when it is convenient for you.
How long does STD testing take?
Most STI testing visits take 30–45 minutes from check-in to completion. The actual specimen collection (blood draw, urine sample, or swab) typically takes only a few minutes. Many results are available the same day, while others may take 24–72 hours depending on the test.
What should I bring to my STD testing visit?
Bring a valid photo ID and your insurance card if you plan to bill insurance. Cash, credit card, and most major insurance plans are accepted. If you prefer to pay out of pocket to keep things completely private, that is an option as well. Just let our front desk team know your preference.
What STIs can be detected through blood tests vs. other methods?
HIV, syphilis, herpes (HSV-1 and HSV-2), and hepatitis B and C are typically detected through blood tests. Chlamydia and gonorrhea are most accurately tested via urine sample or a swab (genital, throat, or rectal depending on exposure). Trichomoniasis can be detected with a swab or urine sample. Our providers will recommend the most appropriate tests based on your history and symptoms.
What happens if my STD test comes back positive?
If your result is positive, one of our providers will discuss the findings with you privately and explain your treatment options. Many STIs — including chlamydia, gonorrhea, syphilis, and trichomoniasis — are curable with antibiotics. For viral infections like HIV or herpes, we will explain management options and connect you with ongoing care as needed. You are never on your own.
Does insurance cover STD testing?
Many insurance plans cover STD/STI testing, particularly as part of preventive care. We accept most major insurance plans. We also offer self-pay options for patients who prefer to keep their testing completely private. Please call our office at (208) 715-9990 if you have questions about coverage before your visit.
Who should get tested for STDs?
The CDC recommends routine STI screening for sexually active adults — especially those with new or multiple partners. You should also consider testing if you have symptoms such as unusual discharge, sores, burning, or itching, or if a partner has been diagnosed with an STI. Regular testing is a normal, responsible part of sexual health care.
